YSL

Yves Henri Donat Mathieu-Saint-Laurent established the French fashion house known as Yves Saint Laurent. YSL is a common abbreviation for both the house and the designer. The first women's tuxedo is said to have been designed by Laurent, who became well-known for his elegantly crafted women's suits. He is credited with making fashionable ready-to-wear garments available to the mainstream market, as well as making ready-to-wear a credible business for designers, as he was the first designer to proclaim his move from couture into ready-to-wear. Laurent's ready-to-wear line was made available in Rive Gauche boutiques, which were later commemorated with a perfume.

In 1964, Y for women, the company's debut fragrance, was released. Y and numerous other YSL releases, such as Rive Gauche (1970), Opium (1977), men's scent Kourous (1981), and Paris (1983), have developed into contemporary masterpieces of the fragrance industry and continue to be best-sellers. YSL offers perfumes in collaboration with the L'Oreal Group.
